Venus, Double Link silver bracelet from Hasla Jewelry. Norwegian jewelry design.
Anne Hasla designed the Venus collection in 2021, and the inspiration for the series is The Renaissance painting Birth of Venus. Sandro Botticelli painted the picture in 1846, and it shows the goddess Venus that is born out of the sea foam as a full-grown woman.
The motif was new and unique for its time. Venus is an important figure and a goddess of love, happiness, nature, fertility, and victory.
The pieces consist of small, neat shapes mixed with more extensive and heavier jewelry elements. For instance, we have chunky chains and delicate petite necklaces. There are solid hoops and thin, small rings. Also, we have combined rocks with smooth surfaces. You can easily use every item in our Venus collection with our previous collections and create your expression.
“I am very interested in issues relating to sustainability, identity, sex norms, and the individual. Various Venus interpretations challenge our ideal of beauty. Throughout art history, the description of the Venus figure shows in different ways. In other words, the different eras in art history fascinate me, and especially the renaissance era, which was my favorite when I was 17-18 years of age.
Innovation and new thinking are associated with that period. And it constitutes a break with past norms. Art assumed a unique position, and in the same way, we can draw parallels to our age. Breaks and new thinking are prevalent in our lives, and Venus is a figure that encompasses many of these new ideas. As a result of this inspiration, I designed Venus.”
